Manufacturing production in Hong Kong experienced a significant rise of 5.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, marking the most rapid increase since the fourth quarter of 2021. This follows a modest gain of 0.9% in the prior period. The upswing was propelled by notable growth in several sectors: food, beverages, and tobacco expanded by 2.5% compared to 2.0%, miscellaneous manufacturing surged to 9.3% from 0.8%, and the sector of metal, computer, electronics, optical products, machinery, and equipment saw an increase to 6.1% from 0.2%. Additionally, the decline in textiles and wearing apparel moderated slightly, moving to -5.2% from -5.6%. However, growth decelerated slightly in the area of paper products, printing, and reproduction of recorded media, dipping to 1.0% from 1.5%. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, manufacturing output advanced by 4.6%, a considerable rise from the 0.3% recorded in the second quarter of 2025.
